Basic Firearms Training

OPOTC Private Security Firearms Certification

Course No.      1-101

Class Hours:       20

Tuition:     $190

Prerequisites:    None   

 

An Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission approved course, the Basic Firearms Training course trains the student to the State of Ohio standards for Private Security training. The course covers Ohio Revised Code statutes, legal issues, and liability related to the use of firearms. It also addresses areas such as basic marksmanship skills, weapon system selection, shooting techniques, tactical application of firearms, and care and maintenance of firearms. Live range fire covering aspects discussed in the classroom and practice for student performance objectives testing are conducted at the range. Students will be tested both in the classroom and on the range to State of Ohio standards. Each student will receive an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certificate upon successful completion.

Requirements: 100% class attendance Students will be required to bring their own serviceable weapon, belt, holster, and a minimum 200 rounds of ammunition. Those students who are qualifying with semi-automatic pistols will be required to also bring two extra magazines.  Please call our office at 216-291-6331

 

Firearms Recertification

OPOTC Private Security Firearms Recertification

Class Hours:       4

Tuition:     $85

Prerequisites:     Current OPOTC certification

 

This firearms recertification course meets the State of Ohio standards for Private Security training. The course tests the students based upon the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission requirements for Private Security annual firearms recertification training.

Requirements: Students will be required to bring their own serviceable weapon, belt, holster, and a minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition. Those students who are qualifying with semi-automatic pistols will be required to also bring two extra magazines.  Please call our office at 216-291-6331

 

Basic Pistolcraft

Course No.      2-101

Class Hours:       20

Tuition:     $190.00

Prerequisites:     BCII / FBI background check

 

This course is limited to 20 students. It is designed for the individual that wants to develop their gun handling skills. The course begins with classroom presentations that address basic firearms skills and the introduction of basic tactical concepts. Methodology is discussed and demonstrated. The course then proceeds to the range to execute skills and techniques that were presented in the classroom. Course will cover the tactical mindset , speed reloads vs. tactical reloads, weapon malfunctions, pivots and turns, barricades, multiple targets, tactical guidelines and low-

light techniques during the low light shoot.  These are just a few examples of the topics that will be addressed.

 

Requirements: Students will be required to bring their own hearing and eye protection, serviceable weapon, belt, rig/holster, flashlight, and a minimum 300 rounds of ammunition. Semi-automatic pistol shooters will be required to bring two (2) extra magazines and revolver shooters two (2) extra speed loaders. Please call our office at 216-291-6331

 

HB 218, Retired Officer Requalification

Course No.      500

Class Hours:       2

Tuition:     $40.00

Prerequisites:       Retired Law Enforcement only

 

This firearms course if for retired Law Enforcement or Peace Officers.  This course covers the Federal Concealed Carry for retired officer's certification addressed under House Bill 218.  Class course is range time and course of fire is the OPOTC approved basic law enforcement requalification. Concealed Carry Permit Course / CCW

Course No.      0-100

Class Hours:       8

Tuition:     $90.00

Prerequisites:     None

 

A State of Ohio Attorney General approved course, the Concealed Carry Permit course meets the training requirements set by the State of Ohio for the new concealed handgun law (House Bill 12). The course covers Ohio Revised Code statutes, legal issues, and liability related to the use of firearms. It also addresses areas such as nomenclature, basic marksmanship skills, firearms safety, safe gun handling, and care and maintenance of firearms. There are two hours of live range fire as part of the course of instruction. Students will be tested both in the classroom and on the range to the State of Ohio standards. Each student will receive a certificate upon successful completion.

Requirements:

Students will be required to bring their own serviceable firearm,  holster, and a minimum 50 rounds of ammunition. Firearms must not exceed .45 caliber. If you have questions about ammunition or a carrying rig/device for your weapon, please call our office at 216-291-6331

 

Basic Pistol Shooting for Women

Course No.      3-100

Class Hours:       16

Tuition:     $120

Prerequisites:       Women only

 

The Basic Pistol Shooting for Women course introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Shooting for Women course will also help prepare the student for participation in other shooting courses. This course is designed for women. Our courses are co-ed, but many women have requested that a course be offered just for women, to ease their comfort level of learning just with other women. Students will be required to bring their own serviceable weapon, and a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition. Those students who are qualifying with semi-automatic pistols will be required to also bring one extra magazine. Students may bring belts and holsters.

Basic Shotgun Certification

OPOTC Private Security Firearms Certification

Class Hours:       16

Tuition:     $100

 

Prerequisites:      None

 

The Basic Shotgun firearms course meets the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council (OPOTC) mandate for the private security professional to utilize a shotgun during employment. The course will review the Ohio legal aspects of carrying a firearm, malfunction drills, firearms home safety, range/firearm rules/regulations and range practice on the shotgun stages.  Students will be tested in the classroom and on the range

Requirements:

100% class attendance Students will be required to bring their own serviceable shotgun(semi or pump) and a minimum 120 rounds of ammunition (100 rounds OO Buck and 20 rounds of breneke slug).
